* If you're someone who is eligible for membership in MOAA, click here to learn all that membership has to offer.

* More importantly, consider what adding your voice to the more than 380,000 others who are members in MOAA means towards sending a strong message to our Congressional leadership on matters relevant to both retired and active serving members of the armed services, as well as surviving spouses.

►     Did you know?

Did you know? Important information on MOAA and how your membership helps!

Important information on MOAA and how your membership helps!

- There are 16 MOAA Chapters in North Carolina with a combined total of 18,000 members...

- BUT, there are ONLY 2,000 MOAA members who have a corresponding membership with one of the 16 NC Chapters!

- Why is this important? Here are just some of the critical actions that have been enacted or supported by MOAA:

* A military member AND the member's spouse can declare a state of residency. This ensures that the spouse doesn't face problems with having to re-register to vote or to get a drivers license in each state to which the military member is assigned.

* TRICARE is NOT in jeopardy of any increases as a result of recent actions by Congress to pass a health care bill because of MOAA's efforts.

* A Caregiver Bill is currently being drafted by Congress to extend critical benefits to family members who support wounded warriors thanks in part to the work of MOAA.

* All of these programs, and many others like them, are the direct result of MOAA's One Powerful Voice before Congress.

* MOAA National NEEDS to hear from everyone about issues important to us as military members, in total, but also as they relate to our state, our hometown, AND our Council of Chapters.

►     Downloading Files on the NC Councils Web Site

Downloading Files on the NC Councils Web Site Why do some files take "forever" to download?

Why do some files take "forever" to download?

* The NC Council of Chapter's file server is a storage device dedicated to hosting, or "containing" the file you want to download, e.g., a Chapter newsletter or roster. When you click a download link, your computer connects to the host server and copies the file over to your system.

* Downloading is when you transfer, or copy a file from another computer to your computer.

* Downloading can take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. The time required to download the file you are interested in depends on the size of the file and the speed of your Internet connection. File size is how much data your computer will have to transfer. Connection speed is how quickly your computer can theoretically download.

* If you experience very long "download" times, you can mouse over the file name and see how big the file is to determine how long you may need to wait.

* After you initially download a file to your computer, subsequently opening the file will only take seconds as the file now "resides" on your computer.

FYI - Council "Comments" and Chapter Newsletters are posted showing the file size(s) to help users gauge the time needed to download the file.
