* A representative gathering of the MOAA "Stormers" pictured here before the U.S. Capital building prior to the day-long event wherein MOAA Presidents from many of the 35 Councils visited legislators from their respective states.

* MOAA's principal concerns to be briefed with the legislators, or their veterans' representatives during the 2016 "Storming the Hill" included support for rejecting the disproportionate TRICARE funding proposal in the upcoming NDAA budget, and repeal of the SBP/DIC (Widow's Tax) reduction.

Along with Lt. Gen. * The North Carolina Council of Chapters President, CAPT Doug Ehrhardt, USN, Ret., participated in the annual MOAA "Storming the Hill" on April 13, 2016.

* The North Carolina team of "Stormers" (pictured L to R) consisted of COL Mike Rogers, USA, Ret., member, MOAA Board of Directors, Ms. Erica Parra, MOAA Currently Serving Spouse Advisory Committee and CAPT Ehrhardt.

Shown in the thumbnail pictures to the right are eight of the fourteen North Carolina legislators that were visited during the "Storming" activity that started at 9:00 AM and lasted until 4:45 PM.

* The Surviving Spouse Advisory Committee (SSAC) is the new title for the Auxiliary Member Advisory Committee (AMAC). It is a committee of the Military Officers Association of America to provide advice/guidance for all MOAA Councils and Chapters related to topics important to surviving spouses.

The SSAC also has a Facebook page that is a useful link for MOAA members who are users of FB; search for "Surviving Spouses Of MOAA" to link to their page and join...

New North Carolina Council of Chapters President Installed

* The North Carolina Council of Chapters installed their new president, CAPT Doug Ehrhardt, USN, Ret. (upper right) at the 1st Quarterly Meeting of the Council which was hosted by the Charlotte-Metrolina Chapter, Col Ron Morgan, President and held at the Ballantyne Regal Theater, Charlotte, NC.

* Col Brian Anderson, USAF, Ret., Deputy Director, MOAA Department of Council and Chapter Affairs was the invited speaker at the ceremony.

* COL Jeri Graham, USN, Ret., (lower right) outgoing president for 2014-2015, was honored for her service to the Council and presented with numerous awards, to include the North Carolina Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the Governor, Pat McCrory.

* On Monday, November 16, 2015, the Piedmont Chapter in Greensboro, NC installed LTC Lee F. Richmond, USA, Ret. as their new chapter president.

* As part of the meeting, the chapter welcomed Col. Cherie Zadlo from MOAA national as the guest speaker. Col. Zadlo is shown (upper photo) presenting outgoing president, Maj. Aimee Corning with the MOAA coin for her service to the chapter.
