* The High Country Chapter, MOAA hosted their 8th Memorial Day Celebration at the Boone Mall in Boone, NC on Monday, May 26th.

* Also on the program was "Generation Excellent," a group of home schooled students from Ashe County who presented a redux of their wonderful performance on America...

Team North Carolina - "Storming the Hill"

* The North Carolina delegation was involved with "Storming the Hill" on April 9, 2014 as part of the annual MOAA effort to bring representatives from all 410 chapters across the US to meet with their respective legislative delegations and spread the word regarding recommended ways for Congress to not consider correcting the country's financial woes on the backs of the military - active, retired, Guard and Reserve as well as the surviving spouses of military service personnel.

* NC Council President Jeri Graham received news and awards for nine of the state council efforts in the 2014 Col Marvin J. Harris Communication Awards contest while she was in DC representing our state as part of MOAA's "Storming the Hill."

* Awards received were as follows:

* By authorization of the Governor, the Honorable Pat McCrory, the Director of the North Carolina Division of Veterans Affairs, Ilario G. Pantano has sent a letter dated February 28, 2014 to All Parties seeking to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War.

* At no cost, organizations like small businesses, county or city offices, Veteran services, schools, museums, libraries, nursing homes, and of course Posts or Chapters of the VFW, VVA, DAV and the American Legion, etc. can participate and receive the commemorative materials.

* The below downloadable file is the letter from Mr. Pantano.
