Greetings from your MOAA National Council and Chapter Affairs team. We hope everyone is faring well and staying safe so far in the new year. Below are some of the important initiatives and events of which you’ll want to be aware. Please share as appropriate with your member chapters.
Recruiting: 2021 will be our Year of the Chapter. We are ramping up efforts to increase both numbers of chapter members and numbers of chapter members who are MOAA national members. We will be doing so with national marketing and communications campaigns, but we need your help. Recruiting incentives for 2021 will reward measurable efforts. We will reward the use of tools intended to attract and retain new chapter and national members and recognize those chapters that continue to innovatively recruit—in diverse environments—even in challenging times. Many of the awards and incentives that have been in place over the past few years (e.g., awards for most members recruited, end of year retention incentive) have been eliminated and replaced with quarterly incentives for recruiting activity. We strongly encourage full use of available tools as well as “out-of-the-box” thinking to implement unconventional practices, such as a virtual meeting option during and perhaps beyond the pandemic. We encourage you to review the entire 2021 Recruiting Guide particularly the introduction and incentives section, for further explanation and details and, as always, we welcome your feedback and ideas.
Revenue generation: The Mercer insurance advertisement program, and opportunity to get $100 for your affiliate, is underway. More information here.
Training resources: Recordings from the most recent leaders workshop have been posted and are available here. If you haven’t been to one in a while, we encourage you to check them out.
Communications Awards: Self-nominations are due on February 1st—just a few days away. Please complete and submit right away to be eligible to win.
Opportunity for members in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia: TRICARE is doing a pilot program related to lower back pain treatment in your area. To learn more, see the MOAA article here.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you in the future.
